You flip to the previous week to see what’s coming up for this week. Then it hits you. You’ve got a math test this morning, a French test in the afternoon, a chemistry lab report that you had no idea about which is due in two days, and an English review quiz just the morning after. Plus, you should really get started on your Health essay about healthy eating. All you can think about right now, is, when did I get all this homework? When did this all happen? It seems almost as if every Wednesday morning of the staff meeting, the teachers compare assignment due dates and test dates. Like they’re purposely trying to make every single thing due on the same day or week, as if they’re plotting against us, or, in their words, ‘getting us ready for university.’

I don’t know about anyone else around here, but personally, I think the teachers are going a bit overboard with the whole, You-have-5-Tests-Next-Week. I mean, it’s mid-October and at the beginning of the school year, the teachers told us they we’re going to start us off easy. Slamming us with all the homework assignments, tests, and projects is not really ‘starting off easy’. Unless this is an easy start, then we’re all going to be doomed by the end of June.

Hilary Gardiner You look through your agenda one Monday morning, and you scan through all your past homework assignments and projects, your crush’s name doodled in a heart several times, and a few test dates here and there.
