That\u2019s right NT\u2026 we have an art gallery!<\/p>\n
I know, I know, you didn\u2019t think that deserved three exclamation marks.\u00a0 Or perhaps you thought it deserved more.\u00a0 Either way, I am here to inform you about the utter awesomeness of NT\u2019s gallery.<\/p>\n
The idea of NT\u2019s student art gallery was formed by two super senior students who attended NT three years ago \u2013 Paniz Moayeri and Angela Kim, who also created the Art Council to promote art in the school.\u00a0 When we got the new school, Ms. Marquis quickly saw the potential for the cozy little nook above the commons.\u00a0 Fundraising began last year to establish the space as a gallery.\u00a0 This year, the Student Gallery Curator, Joanne Lee, and her team help run and organize the gallery.<\/p>\n
New shows are scheduled about every six weeks, and many clubs such as Manga, Photography, and the Media course have already booked the space.\u00a0 But here\u2019s the really cool part \u2013 the gallery is not just for NT\u2019s clubs.\u00a0 It\u2019s also for individual students, or groups of students, who want to display their art.\u00a0 So if you\u2019re interested in showing a collection of your art, there will be opportunities throughout the year for you to share it with the school.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to Ms. Marquis, our art gallery is \u201ca first for NT and is a huge step towards recognizing the contribution of visual arts to student life as well as to the overall importance of visual culture in our lives.\u201d\u00a0 In other words, NT is really lucky to get this gallery, and this work in progress really does enhance our school.\u00a0 So take advantage of it!\u00a0 Go and check out the art in the gallery \u2013 even if you don\u2019t think it\u2019s your thing, it\u2019s pretty cool.\u00a0 And if you\u2019re into art, like all awesome people are, maybe you\u2019ll want to put in a proposal for your own art.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Look out for NT\u2019s upcoming art projects, such as the Art and Stationary sale, the Soda Pop Shop Art Contest, and Spring Fling Sidewalk-Chalk Competition.\u00a0 And don\u2019t forget to check out the gallery- it truly is a sight to see.<\/p>\n
