When Graffiti got word that one of our geography teachers was keen to change the national anthem we play in the morning, we were worried she wanted to change it to another country’s; Azerbaijan’s could be interesting we thought, but wouldn’t that defeat the purpose? Soon enough, we realized the goal was to change the recording of Canada’s anthem – and not the country – to draw more attention it and encourage students to listen. Makes sense, perhaps. Why don’t we go with the Classified version? Or maybe a Dubstep mix? Better yet, maybe staff could take turns singing – I imagine Mr. Mendelovits has quite the set of pipes to share.
