Book Review: The Scrapbook Of Frankie Pratt

 Annie Robinson

The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt by Caroline Preston was without a doubt one
of the most engaging novels I have ever read and I would highly recommend it!
The story revolves around the life of Frankie Pratt, a young college student
growing up in the 1920s. Throughout the novel, readers learn about Frankie’s
love of writing, friendships, travels, and love affairs. However, what makes
this book extra special is the full color vintage memorabilia that fills every
page. This novel is told through more than just words; each page is filled with
authentic clippings from the 20’s, making the story a lot more interesting and
giving it the look and feel of a scrapbook.

I would recommend this novel to girls who are interested in historical fiction and are looking for a light read. This was a very leisurely novel to read due to all the pictures. I loved the way the visuals helped take me back to the time period that the book was written in! Not to mention, it was exciting to see the trinkets and drawings that Frankie
collected throughout her life.

While the writing and pictures made this book exciting to read, it was also the lovable protagonist, Frankie Pratt, that kept me engaged. Frankie was fun, hard-working, romantic, loyal, and relatable. As you are reading about Frankie’s life, you become very attached to her and are constantly rooting for her. Frankie’s heartfelt adventure was a complete pleasure to read about.

Overall, The Scrapbook Of Frankie Pratt by Caroline Preston was a fantastic
novel that I would highly recommend. The combination of writing and pictures
was delightful, and the main character was lovely to read about. This novel is
truly a treat to read and one you will no doubt find interesting to look
through again and again. This story is a must-have for your bookshelf, as it
will not disappoint!
